Run Away With Me – August 12, 2020

Blackened trees

Flatten

Against the setting of the sun

Drawing in

A taste

Replete

Swishing around

Strung up puppets

Dancing

In the dark

Tattered drums

Flashy

And connected

Dragging their feet

As everything

Fades into the disappearing sky

Softening through this distance

We cannot see

Leaving behind all else

Held up

High

      1. Pre-covid, I’d walk to the grocery story on Saturday, early in the morning. As I would walk home, the trees would flatten against the sky just barely lit by the un-risen sun. You captured that.
