Sitting in the moon light

So I can see you

In it’s gaze

Laying down

And breathing in

Until it hurts

Releasing

The madness

Pouring out

Into a mist

All around us

Floating

Like bees in the dark

Leading the blind

And

Misplaced

It has always been me

You truly see

In the gaze

Of the shifting moon

      1. The Moon is moving away from Earth at a rate of 3.8 centimeters (1.5 inches) per year, but the speed of its retreat has varied over time.

        Someday there will be no Moon to draw us in because it will be so far away. But will all be far gone on that day!

      2. Aw, your comment has started my wheels spinning!

        It reminded me of a little ditty I wrote back in April, Collide. I had just watched a show like NOVA or Cosmos that discussed the Giant-Impact hypothesis. With claims a planet named Theia collided with early Earth and a remnant of that collision formed our moon. It went on to later talk about another collision. One between the Earth and the Moon itself. I googled the heck out of it and found this article from Forbes…

        Where a planetary scientist from Idaho, Jason Barnes, discusses the facts you stated about the moon slowly moving away from Earth and then goes on to say, “the Earth and Moon may be on a very long-term collision course…The final end-state of tidal evolution in the Earth-Moon system will indeed be the inspiral of the Moon and its subsequent collision and accretion onto Earth.”

        Maybe, billions of years from now…it might be fair to say the moon ended up drawing us all in ;).
